Lasting Powers of attorney

At its simplest, a Power of Attorney is a formal document by which one person (the donor) gives another (the attorney) authority to act on his behalf. If the donor appoints more than one attorney, he must decide whether they are to act together or can act separately.

If you would like to make a power of attorney, Glanvilles can advise you on the appropriate type and the clauses to include or leave out. We can also advise donors and attorneys of existing powers on their duties and what steps the attorneys can properly take.

Partners in Glanvilles are willing to act as attorneys in appropriate cases.

There are two types of Lasting Power of Attorney:

Health & Welfare

A Health & Welfare Lasting Power of Attorney allows you to choose one or more person to make decisions about things such as your daily routine, medical care, the refusal of life-sustaining treatment and moving to a care home.

Property & Financial Affairs

A Property & Financial Affairs Lasting Power of Attorney lets you choose one or more person to make decisions about money and property for you, such as paying bills, collecting your benefits and selling your property.
